The Wayfarers is a narrative platformer about four adopted brothers who live as a small group of bandits. Playing as Jasper, you work alongside Desmond, Jonah, and Leon to pull off an ambitious heist, using each brother’s unique strengths as the plan begins to unravel. Though the world sees them as criminals, the brothers are fiercely loyal to one another, and always ending up helping the communities they get involved with despite their intentions.
The story is built around my research on the Pygmalion Effect, or Rosenthal Effect—the idea that expectations placed upon people can influence their behavior and ultimately help produce the very outcomes that were expected of them. The story ultimately asks whether those expectations revealed who they truly are, or helped create them, culminating in a final choice where Jasper must decide whether to accept the identity the world gave him or choose who he wants to become.
